Recently, we spent some time with Mr. Conrad, South's new Athletic Director. We asked him to share a little more about himself.
Hello Waukesha South!
My name is Nick Conrad, and I am honored to serve as the Athletic Director at Waukesha South High School. I was born in Waukesha, and my family and I are proud to call Waukesha home today. Having the opportunity to serve this community and support our student athletes and activity participants is both exciting and meaningful, and I am grateful to be part of the Blackshirt family.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to serve as a teacher, coach, administrator, and athletic director. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that education based athletics are about much more than wins and losses. Athletics teach perseverance, teamwork, leadership, accountability, and resilience, qualities that help students succeed long after their playing days are over.
Before joining Waukesha South, I served as the Athletic Director in the Waunakee Community School District and previously as Assistant Athletic Director in the School District of Cudahy. Before moving into athletic administration, I spent seven years teaching social studies, 14 years coaching boys basketball, and three years coaching freshman high school football. Those experiences continue to shape my approach to leadership and my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to student growth are the foundation of a successful school community.
I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and master's degrees from Concordia University Wisconsin and Cardinal Stritch University. I am also completing my Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) certification through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), reflecting my commitment to continuous growth and excellence in athletic leadership.
As Athletic Director, my goal is to provide every student athlete with a positive, meaningful experience while supporting our coaches and creating an environment where students can compete, grow, and represent Waukesha South with pride.
I also believe that a strong athletic program is built through partnership. I look forward to working with our students, families, coaches, Booster Club, alumni, and community members as we continue to build a culture that makes Waukesha South a great place to be a part of.
I believe some of the best memories our students will make happen through athletics and activities, and I am committed to helping create experiences they will remember for a lifetime. Together, we will continue to build a culture that reflects the pride, tradition, and excellence of Waukesha South.
Whether you see me at a game, concert, or school event, I hope you'll stop by and introduce yourself. I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and community.
